ILDA Members affirm commitment to safe shows
and to ILDA Code of Ethics


All ILDA Members must sign a Statement of Affirmation form, stating they are aware of laser show safety basics. This is required for continued membership.

  • If you ARE doing laser shows, first read the Laser Show Safety Basic Principles page. Then, go to the form on this page. Note: "Doing laser shows" means any company or individual who operates, produces, presents and otherwise has some or all responsibility for safe operation of a laser display.

Background information

Why the form is required

As a result of the July 5 incident at the Aquamarine festival laser show near Moscow, all ILDA Members are being asked to affirm their knowledge and commitment to basic laser show safety principles and to ILDA's Code of Ethics. This was enacted by the ILDA Board of Directors at their July 17 2008 teleconference and was further amended on October 7 2008.

Who must sign the form

A Statement of Affirmation form must be signed by all ILDA Members:

  • For Corporate and Nonprofit Members, the person signing is a corporate owner or officer, who is signing on behalf of the corporation or organization.
  • For Individual and Student Members, the person signing is the Member.

What happens if a Member does not sign

It is important that every ILDA Member know basic safety principles to help keep laser shows and displays safe. Also, the Code of Ethics is required of every ILDA Member. Article IV, Section 3 of ILDA's Bylaws gives the Board the power to suspend or expel a Member "for cause such as conduct detrimental to ILDA or to the laser display industry."

Therefore, if a Member does not agree to these basic safety principles and to the Code of Ethics, then in the Board's view their conduct is "detrimental to ILDA or to the laser show industry," and the Member may be suspended or expelled.
