Laseronics, based in La Center, Washington USA, marks its third year on the high seas with three charter cruises back to back. In a cruise with 2,300 passengers sailing from Barcelona to Athens, Laseronics used two Lumalaser Blitz systems and one high-power red diode system to entertain passengers at the all-night dance parties on the pool deck. As soon as Laseronics completed the Mediterranean cruise, it traveled to Vancouver, BC for a week-long cruise to Alaska. With cold nights, unpredictable weather and long daylight hours, all party events were moved into the ship’s nightclubs and theaters. Only two days after returning from Alaska, Laseronics set sail on another nine-night cruise out of Barcelona. As the ship sailed through the night the captain came to the show control booth and asked Laseronics to “light up the sky” and “give her all you got” in an attempt to show off to the company’s sister ships.
With the DJ spinning a techno mix version, the laser operators phoned the bridge and arranged for the ship’s horn to blow at the exact moment of the main laser effect. The end result: more than 2,000 passengers and crew cheering in excitement.
One of the biggest celebrations in Egypt’s history, the inauguration of President Hosni Mubarak, will include laser effects produced by Cairo-based Laseronics Middle East. About five million Egyptians are expected to attend the Oct. 7 inauguration festivities, with television networks broadcasting the events to 16 Arab countries. Laseronics ME will create a 45-minute
laser show using two YAG lasers and two Chroma full-color lasers.
Fireworks will also be featured prominently, with pyro and lighting
effects coming from the roofs of eight buildings in Cairo and from
a barge in the middle of the Nile river.
Italian Musical Features Lasers The new hit Italian musical, “Winx Power Show,” features stage lighting and lasers inspired from the world of comic books and cartoons created by Italian artist Iginio Straff. Giuseppe Zagaria of Scenes, created the laser effects using an 1.8-watt RGB projector and a Troll Club 300 mW moving head. Marcello Zagaria designed the stage lighting and atmospheres, and along with Giuseppe provided creative support to make the show a multimedia and fantasy experience. The musical is directed by Salvatore Vivinetto and produced by the Muscia Arts & Show of Milan.
